Welcome !

On behalf of the Australian National Committee on Large Dams (ANCOLD) Executive and the Conference Organising Committee I am delighted to invite people to the 2014 ANCOLD Conference to be held in Canberra, ACT.

The conference will be held at the National Convention Centre, Canberra. The National Convention Centre is conveniently located just 7km from airport and just minutes walk from a range of accommodation options and the city centre, with simple access to the very best Canberra attractions. One of Australia’s few planned cities, Canberra is a place where architectural style complements the beauty of the surrounding Australian bush. Located on the ancient lands of the traditional owners, the Ngunnawal people, Canberra is thought to derive its name from the Aboriginal word Kamberra or ‘meeting place’.

The conference will be held 21-22 October 2014 and will have a theme of: “Dams in a changing world”. This theme explores overcoming the social, political and environmental challenges of owning, maintaining and managing dams.

This year a Pre-Conference Tour will be held from the 18-19 October 2014 along with a day of workshops on the 20 October 2014.

In addition to these events, a full partners’ program will be held over the conference days. This program will include all of the sites and attractions that Canberra has to offer.

We look forward to welcoming you, your partners and your colleagues to Canberra in October 2014.
